GS/2 Tape Adapter Cable (TAC)

The TAC is used to connect the tape-based family to Fairchild Aviation Digital Flight Recorders, Model F800, to the GS/2 series of Fairchild Aviation Recorder ground support equipment, to include the Read-Out Center/2 (ROC/2) and Portable Analysis Unit (PAU).

The TAC is used to test and validate the installation of the F800 DFR on a new aircraft, or to copy data from the F800 DFR to the GS/2 support equipment.  The software driven features of the TAC have been designed to emulate the features of the Fairchild Read Data Unit (RDU).  Additionally, when used with a PAU, the TAC directly replaces the Fairchild Portable Data Display Unit (PDDU).

When used with the PAU, the TAC has three major purposes:
1.  Installation Validation
2.  Certification Flights
3.  Annual Verification

NOTE:  There are no calibration or alignment procedures required for the TAC.  GS/2 Version 1.5 or higher is required for the operation of the TAC.
