Ultrasonic Tooling - Horns / Fixtures

Ultrasonic tooling (i.e., horns and fixtures) is a critical element in the plastics assembly process. Ultrasonic horns and fixtures must be designed to accommodate the requirements of a particular application.

Ultrasonic horns design and manufacture

Applying the practices of a documented work process, Dukane's highly skilled ultrasonic tooling engineers design and manufacture durable, dependable horns and fixtures that can be used with Dukane plastics assembly equipment, as well as competitive equipment.

Evaluation

An ultrasonic tooling engineer considers factors related to materials, engineering, and labor in the early design stage. Application specifics such as size, shape, material, function, etc., are all evaluated.

CAD design and documentation

Dukane uses computer-aided design technology to design ultrasonic tooling. Each step of the design, manufacturing, and testing phases is meticulously documented. Structural and material data are stored for easy retrieval, review, and modification, if necessary.

Finite Element Analysis (FEA)

FEA lets an ultrasonic tooling engineer test a horn's design before it is actually manufactured. Not only does this save time and money, it optimizes horn design and performance, detecting stress points and amplitude irregularities. FEA has even allowed our engineers to develop ultrasonic tooling for applications previously deemed unfeasible by others.

FEA research and evaluations are conducted by Dukane's Electro-Acoustic Technology Department, which provides a formal, focused approach to the study, design, and development of ultrasonic acoustic structures. The experience-enriched staff improves existing designs and investigates new ones via the latest technology tools and rigorous testing.
